Dr. Ed McKnight

Dr. McKnight grew up in a small eastern Arkansas farming community just west of Memphis, TN. He attended Mississippi State University for his undergraduate studies and graduated from the University of Missouri- Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. Dr. McKnight spent the next 4 years as a Captain in the United States Army Veterinary Corps. Capt. McKnight served at Ft. Stewart, GA and the Navy Medical Hospital in Naples, Italy. After leaving the service in 1985, he moved to Jacksonville, FL and has worked as an equine veterinarian, orthopedic surgeon, general practitioner, and locum tenum, prior to buying the Family Pet Hospital in 2000.

His hobbies include flying, motorcycles, and primarily playing and camping with his wife and their 2 horses through out the Southeast U.S.

Dr. Craig Kirk

Family Pet Hospital is happy to introduce our newest team member, Dr Craig Kirk. Dr Kirk is a 2004 graduate of the University of Florida and has been providing care for furry friends for the last 12 years. Dr Kirk grew up in South Florida and received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami. Dr Kirk has experience in helping pets in both general and emergency practice settings. Dr Kirk has a large family that includes his wife, Kelly; three kids; two dogs; two cats; a cockatiel named “Sam;” and too many fish to count. Craig’s better half, Kelly, is also a small animal veterinarian in the Jacksonville area. He looks forward to helping Dr McKnight provide the same high level of care that you expect and have received over your pets lives. When not helping pets, Dr Kirk enjoys camping, hiking, and kayaking with his family in the great outdoors.
